Game write up:

The second game of the double header had the Comets as the away team and Devils as the home team. The Devils would send Hsinyen Lai to the mound to duel it out with Brian McIntosh from the Comets.

Hsinyen would start off the game strong setting the Comets down in order in the Top of the 1st inning. However, Brian McIntosh would respond in the bottom half by keeping the Devils from reaching home and keeping the game scoreless after one.
Comets 0 - 0 Devils.

A leadoff walk to McIntosh in the top of the 2nd inning, combined with some sloppy fielding by the Devils allowed the Comets to open the scoring by plating the first run of the game and giving them the lead. McIntosh again was solid on the mound in the bottom half keeping the Devils at bay once again.
Comets 1 - 0 Devils.

The top of the 3rd inning had the Comets add another run as a single by Ang Fu and another overthrow error to first by the Devils allowed the Comets to take a two nil lead. However, the Comets would slip themselves in the bottom half of the third as a combination of Devils hits and a few throwing errors by the Comets allowed the Devils to jump to a five to two lead.
Comets 2 - 5 Devils.

The Devils wouldn't hold the lead for very long. The top of the 4th inning saw Hsinyen get into a little trouble as he would walk the lead off batter Geo Coulter. He was able to battle back and get the next two outs; however, a crucial two out walk to Chris Kelly kept the inning going. The next batter Fu would knock in Coulter giving the Comets their third run of the game. Devils unable to close out the inning on what looked to be a routine fly ball to right field was dropped allowing the Comets to load the bases for Comets centre fielder John Nelson. On the next pitch, Nelson would leave the yard to deep left for his 7th Home Run of the season, and second grand slam of the season putting the Comets back into the lead sevent to five. The Devils would answer right back in the bottom half of the inning as McIntosh got into a little bit of trouble, giving up two runs on a deep fly ball to right field, once again leveling the game.
Comets 7 - 7 Devils.

Sorry things get a bit fuzzy at this point. The top of the 5th saw the Comets rally, the Devils allowed 5 more runs to score. I think a combination of walks and errors allowed the Comets to get 4 runs across before Hsinyen made way for Tristram Gibbons to take the mound. Comets would add a massive, massive insurance run as Comets catcher Louis Maguire would smash an RBI double to left field that would ultimately count as the winning run. I believe McIntosh was able to power through the bottom of the fifth inning to keep the Comets with a bit of breathing room.
Comets 12 - 7 Devils.

Top of the 6th inning saw Tristram keep the Comets scoreless in the inning. Bottom half of the inning, the Devils were able to get the first two batters aboard. McIntosh leaving it all out on the field made way for Nelson to come in for his second relief stint of the day, trying to hold the Devils. The Devils, however, ever were able to get two runs across in the bottom half to inch closer to the Comets.
Comets 12 - 9 Devils.

Nothing across for the Comets in the top half of the 7th inning as a ground rule double by Nelson was wasted as he was left stranded on second base. In the bottom half of the inning the Comets would send lefty, Polish Powerhouse, Robert Grucela to the hill to close out the game; facing the top of the Devils line up. Two quick fly ball outs to Florian Bock in right field and to Coulter at short stop had the Comets one out away from victory. However, the Devils not going quietly into that good night were able to get Hsinyen and Gibbons aboard. Griffin would make things interesting as he would double the runners home putting the game within one run and the tying run on second base. However, the Devils would fall short as Grucela would bear down and get the next batter to fly out to left field as very fittingly McIntosh would squeez the last out to end the game. Comets taking the final game of the three game series.
Comets 12 - 11 Devils.
