Game write up:

The weather stayed the same for Game 2 which usually sees the rosters of both teams stretched to their limits. Comets probably would be expected to fare better in this regard with their marathon affair in their previous game versus the Oilers who had not tested the depth of their squad fully losing by way of mercy rule the previous week having played only 7 innings.

This much was clear from the start as Santino DeRosa took the mound for Glasgow and quickly set down the top of Aberdeen's order to bring his team to the plate. Oilers would hand the ball to Jared Thomley in Game 2. Right away Oilers were under pressure as DeRosa and Coulter reached for Comets before John Nelson blasted a towering fly ball to centre field clearing the fence for a homerun despite being hit into the wind. 3rd home run in as many games for the big man. Another RBI from Chris Kelly came as Greenwood crossed the plate for Glasgow. Comets had put 4 past their opponents in the 1st inning as Aberdeen had done in Game 1. Glasgow's fielding was clearly more solid and this gave their offence some confidence. They added to their lead in the 2nd which was highlighted when Chuan Kao marked his return to the team from a year absence helping Comets to a 7-0 lead after 2. Aberdeen recovered slightly in the 3rd as an RBI Groundout got them on the board. However it was a long 4th inning for the away team now starting to tire from their trip.

Glasgow had spread the lead to 10-1 with the bases loaded and 0 outs before Thomley made way for Dale Beaver on the mound. However this did not help the team as Comets rallied with RBI after RBI coming for the team. 16-1 after the 4th inning.
The game continued in this vein as Comets took to the field needing 3 outs to send Aberdeen packing by way of mercy rule. DeRosa still rolling on the mound recovered from 2 walks to retire the side by way of a strikeout, a fly out to centre field and a popout to 3rd base to conclude the proceedings.

Glasgow rejoiced after mentally recovering for game 2 and showed the clear difference in the depth of the squads today. It must be said congratulations to Granite City Oliers for getting their team operational in the league again and thank them for travelling for today's games. Safe trip up the road guys!
Next game for the Comets is a huge one as the Glasgow Derby returns for 2017. Both teams justified in thinking they can win this one but time will tell. Galaxy playing next week at Tollcross!
