Edinburgh Giants 10 - Glasgow Baseball Association 8

Glasgow narrowly lost out in an unpredictable game which ended up going right to the wire at Tollcross Park. GBA started strongly with pitcher Daryn McCulloch retiring the side in order, while the bottom of the first saw Glasgow take a 3-0 lead on runs scored by Francis Takino, Michael McCusker and Albert Rodriguez. The Giants went down 1-2-3 again but Glasgow also failed to score with a runner in scoring position picked off.

Edinburgh Cannons 8 - Glasgow Baseball Association 7

Cannons narrowly edge GBA 8-7 in a tense 10 innings.

The Edinburgh Cannons finally got to begin their defence of the Scottish National League Crown in Glasgow today, squeaking through a tense and thrilling game that no team really dominated. Edinburgh's day would be typified by rusty swings and missed opportunities while a scrappy GBA team who played well and clawed their way back in during the final innings would run out of steam in extra innings.

A much improved Glasgow performance was overcome by a strong Cannons team as Chad Watters played his last game for GBA before going back to Canada.

Xander Harrison started on the mound for Glasgow, and he struggled with control as the Cannons hit him hard to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Despite Chad Watters getting a base hit up the baseline in the bottom half of the 1st, GBA were unable to capitalize. Edinburgh added another run to extend the lead to 4-0, but Glasgow pitching and defence tightened up to match the strong pitching and fielding of the Cannons. The lead was extended to 5-0 in the 5th and Xander left the mound after 6 solid innings. Chad pitched for the last time in Glasgow, and despite giving up a run, struck out the side in the 7th, followed by a scoreless 8th inning. He was substituted after 8 to make way for Paul Houston who became the latest player to make a debut for Glasgow. Paul was unlucky to be hit by a pitch in his first ever at-bat. GBA were dominated by a great pitching performance, limited to just 4 base hits, as well as shut out and failing to take advantage of runners in scoring position in the 9th. Another impressive win for the Cannons, but Glasgow made some steps in the right direction this week with a better display.

Sunday April 26 Bobby Thomson Field Edinburgh

Exciting game between the Devils and the Giants. The Devils start the game with 2 runs in the 1st inning and continue the hitting in the second with a home run by Alfredo Perez putting them ahead 8-0 until the botton of the 2nd inning when the Giants got some good hits so make the score 8-2. Good pitching by Rafael Perez and a good defence from the Giants. The game continued like that until the botton of the 5th inning when the Giants scored 5 to put the game at 8-7. In the 7 inning a few erros from the Giants infield and outfield allowed the Devils to score 3 adding to their lead, 10-7 send the game into extra innings. Devils immediately took the lead by scoring 2 runs in the top of the 10th. But the Giants rallied back as a couple of walks hurt and Alex hit another double to knock in the winning run. Giants win 13 to 12
