Game write up:

The Devils looked to continue their resurgence and this week they took on a Galaxy from far far away(well Glasgow). Many had written off the plucky upstarts against the juggernaught of the reigning champions, but the Devils had a plan (unconfirmed if hidden inside a droid).
Bret started on the mound for the Devils and quickly got into trouble. He was able to score a couple of strikes on his opponents, but unable to land the killer blow as he would give up 4 hits with 2 strikes highlighted by a double by John Tafe. He wasnt helped by some questionable defence behind him with the Devils doing all the litle things wrong at the start of this one trailing 4-0.
The Devils would respond in the 1st as Sylvain would scamper home on a Smash groundout. However Galaxy starter Luke Powell would strike out Devon to leave the bases loaded.
The second inning started well for the Devils with Bret getting the first 2 outs heped by a nice jumping catch by James on the centrefield warning track. However the Galaxy would once more string together 4 back to back hits to plate a further 3 runs again not helped by a Devils defence colder than ice planet Hoth.
In the 3rd inning Bret made the call to the Bullpen, "Help Me Hsin-Yen , you are my only hope". The veteran hurler coming out of his solitary existence (1st base) to take the battle to the Galaxy, firing 2 innings of scoreless relief.
In the meantime the Devils edged closer taking advantage of Galaxy starter Luke HighWalker as 3 walks and 2 hits allowed 3 runs to come in and when Chris W singled in Sylvain, the deficit was now only 7-5.
There were still some set backs for the Devils as a couple of costly errors would allow a run to score off Hsin-Yen. However, an excellent play by James now at first base prevented anymore damage as he was able to leap into the stands to record the final out on a disputed play.
In the 6th Scottt took over on the mound for the Galaxy he and Hsin Yen duelled over the next two innings firing zeroes and it wasnt until the 8th that any damage was caused. First the Galaxy looked to add on getting 3 hits off Hsin Yen. However, Jim Sehar was caught in a well executed run down between 3rd and home for the final out and picked up a nasty looking injury in the process.
Buoyed by this the Devils were finally able to string some hits together against Scott. including a controversial play down the 3rd base line. But it was a case of the Umpire Strikes back as the 3 umpires conferred before ruling the ball fair. This had brought the Devils back to only one run down and with the bases loaded and only one out it looked like the comeback was one. However, the Galaxy used the force (at home) to start an inning ending double play and end the threat.
The Galaxy went down quietly in the 9th to set up the final inning showdown. Things started well for the Devils as Andrew was able to work a walk. Up next was Callum who hit a gap shot into the outfiled. Andrew aggresively went for third out but could not E Vader tag and was thrown out. However a walk from Julliette and an infield hit would load the bases with two out and Bret coming to the plate ready for some walk off redemption in perfect movie style.
However, life isnt a movie and this was confirmed by Bret popping up to the catcher to the end the game 8-7.
So a heartbreaking loss for the Devils who will rue some sloppy play to start this one. Emergency board meetings are being held to decide sacrificing manager Bret in the Sarlacc pit before the next game will bring about a change in fortune.
As for the Galaxy this was a very profesional display with good hitting and solid defence earning the win. Some are saying that the cross town Comets are the team to beat this season but the Galaxy will have a big say in this one as well.

MVP: A few strong candidates but the lightsabermetrics give it Hsin Yen for 7 innings of relief and only 1 unearned run conceded.
